Emergency number 112 becomes fully operational in Greece

The European emergency number 112 became fully operational in Greece on 1 January, according to local paper Ekathimerini citing the General Secretariat for Civil Protection, which will be responsible for the service. On top of calls for help, the centre will be able to send evacuation messages in serious emergencies, or other instructions to protect citizens. The system also allows for the automatic location of those who call the service.
