Employee shareholders urge Orange to bid for Maroc Telecom

Orange's employee shareholders' association, Adeas, has written to chairman and CEO Stephane Richard to urge the group to bid for the 53 percent of Maroc Telecom put up for sale by Vivendi, 01 Net reports. The employees see the move as a major opportunity in North Africa. In addition to Moroccan ISP Casanet, Maroc Telecom owns Malitel, Mauritania's Mauritel, Burkina Faso's Onatel and Gabon Telecom. Adeas, which represents around 127,000 employee shareholders, writes that the estimated price for the stake is EUR 4.5 billion, or around two years of Orange dividend at EUR 0.80 per share, the
