Enisa recommends tighter security for data retention

The EU's network security watchdog, Enisa has published a report reviewing the implementation of the Data Retention Directive. The study looked at the implementation of the directive in six countries, assessing technical and organisational security measures, and analysed the need for additional security measures to protect data retained under the directive. The study is part of the ongoing review by the European Commission of the directive, first published in 2006 in order to save communications data for a certain period in the event it may be needed for law enforcement.
