EQT in talks to buy data centre operator EdgeConneX - report

EQT is in talks to buy data centre company EdgeConneX, people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg. The takeover from investors including Providence Equity Partners is thought to be worth at least USD 2.5 billion, one person said. 

Founded in 2009 and based in Virginia, EdgeConneX has built more than 40 data centres in North America, Europe and South America. Providence Equity acquired a stake in the company in 2016.

The companies declined to comment. If successful, the deal would add to EQT's earlier announced agreement to buy Zayo.

Private equity firm Warburg Pincus said that it has sold it majority stake in German regional operator Inexio to EQT infrastructure. The other shareholder Deutsche Beteiligungs and other minority investors have also sold their stakes to EQT. Warburg Pincus owned a stake of 59.45 percent in Inexio.

EQT plans IPO and listing in Stockholm

Investment company EQT said that it intends to launch an initial public offering (IPO) and listing of its shares on Nasdaq Stockholm. EQT invests in sectors such as infrastructure, real estate, venture capital, credit and public value. It has offices in fifteen countries in three continents with approximately 650 full time-equivalent (FTE) employees and has raised approximately EUR 62 billion of capital since inception in 1994.

EQT Infrastructure accelerates expansion in European fibre market

EQT Infrastructure is expanding its footprint across Europe with the acquisition of Swedish fibre operator IP-Only. At the same time, the Norwegian fibre company Broadnet will change name to GlobalConnect, following its merger with the EQT company of the same name active in Denmark and northern Germany. It appears likely that IP-Only will become part of the same group, and possible also EQT Infrastructure's activities in the Netherlands.
