Equitel payments hit KES 449 billion in December quarter

Kenya's Equitel recorded 73 percent growth in the number of mobile money commerce transactions in fourth quarter 2018, statistics from the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) show. Equitel processed 106 million mobile payments, up from 65.9 million in 2017. The value of these transactions increased to KES 449.2 billion, a 73 percent rise from KES 258.9 billion over the same period in 2017.
