Erdogan says Turkey should skip LTE, wait for 5G

Friday 24 April 2015 | 10:39 CET | News
Turkey's president Tayyip Erdogan said the country should stick with 3G before jumping to 5G technology within two years and not "lose time" with 4G/LTE technology, according to Reuters. Turkey's communications technologies authority BTK will on 26 May hold a 4G/LTE tender for 20 frequency segments at a minimum value of around EUR 2.3 billion. 4G/LTE services are planned to be offered from the start of 2015, Turkey's communications ministers said. The auction will include frequencies in the 800, 900, 1,800, 2,100 and 2,600 MHz bands.
