Ericsson achieves 25 Gbps downlink with 5G radio prototype

Ericsson announced it has tested its 5G radio prototypes in live networking environments and achieved downlink throughput of more than 25 Gbps using MU-MIMO. The company has been conducting tests with Japanese operator NTT Docomo and Korea's KT and said it will demonstrate the prototypes also at Mobile World Congress. Ericsson's 5G radio prototypes use Multi-user, Multiple Input, Multiple Output (MU-MIMO) and Massive MIMO to increase downlink throughput. They also use advanced beam-tracking, which is required in millimeter wave bands to ensure high performance and reliability for users as
