Ericsson feels qualified optimism for equipment market

US demand and China's mobile network upgrade are expected to support telecom equipment growth this year, Ericsson chairman Leif Johansson told journalists in Hainan, China, during his attendance of the Boao Forum for Asia. Johansson sees overall demand this year as being "stable and slightly on the positive side", Bloomberg reports. Mobile operators are increasing their expenditure on network upgrades for faster internet access. Johansson said he was "a little more optimistic on the US", adding "Perhaps Europe too as stabilised". China and northeast Asia represented around 17 percent of
