ZTE has received legal papers stating that Ericsson has filed lawsuits against ZTE over handset patent infringement in the UK. In response, the Chinese company plans to initiate patent invalidation procedures against Ericsson before the patent re-examination board of SIPO (China's State Intellectual Property Organisation). ZTE termed the suit from Ericsson a competitive move and threatened further legal action if the suit was extended to ZTE customers. ZTE also urged Ericsson to withdraw its complaint in favour of further negotiations. The Ericsson suit was also filed in Italy and Germany and concerns GSM and WCDMA technology.
