Ericsson powering EU 5G initiative at Ford engine plant in Spain

Ericsson said it is providing 5G connectivity to Ford Motor Company's engine plant in Valencia, Spain, as part of a new European Commission and European ICT industry-backed Industry 4.0 initiative. Under the 5G-INDUCE pilot, the partners are using edge computing, advanced robotics and artificial intelligence technologies to test applications including autonomous automated guided vehicles (AGV) fleet management, smart AGV operations based on human gesture recognition and virtual reality (VR) tools.
