Ericsson releases IoT Networks Software upgrade

Ericsson has released IoT Networks Software 16B, designed to address the M2M IoT challenges of device cost, battery life and cellular coverage in remote and underground locations. Ericsson's new IoT Networks Software 16B delivers reduced IoT device cost by 60 percent by supporting LTE Cat-0 with half-duplex operation in FDD. It also extends battery life as part of Ericsson's goal for 5G of achieving a 10-year battery life for IoT devices. IoT Networks Software 16B introduces a device power-saving Mode for LTE & GSM, with a deep sleep state and extended discontinuous reception (DRX) for GSM
