Ethio-Telecom seeks to invest in financial sector

Ethiopia's Council of Ministers has amended the Ethio-Telecom establishment regulation to boost the firm's operations besides its traditional telecommunication service, The Capital reported. The regulation amendment mainly aims to allow the state operator to invest in the financial sector. The government is currently in the process of selling a minority stake in Ethio Telecom to foreign and local investors, while retaining the majority.
