Ethiopian govt plans to invite bidders for Ethio Telecom and two mobile licences in October

The Ministry of Finance of Ethiopia says it will invite international telecom operators in October to bid for 40 percent of Ethio Telecom's shares and compete for two more telecommunication licences, New Business reported. The ministry said so far, twelve international operators have expressed their interest in the Ethio Telecom stake, including Safaricom. MTN, Vodafone and Saudi Telecom are also interested in the forthcoming bid and entering the 110 million-strong market.
