ETNO, GSMA welcome EC reform proposals

ETNO, the main lobby group for telecom operators, and its counterpart in the mobile sector, the GSMA, have welcomed the European Commission's proposals for reforming telecom regulations. ETN called the proposed new Electronic Communications Code an "historic" step in replacing the "outdated" EU telecom rules and moving towards a gigabit society. It called on legislators to ensure the final reforms adopted provide clear incentives for "Europe''s main investors" and also that the legislation takes a neutral approach to the choice of broadband access technology.
