EU agrees first rules on drone use

Drones with a kinetic energy of over 80 joules based on their mass and maximum speed will be classified as "dangerous" and will need to be registered by their owners and individually marked to be easily identified, according to the first ever EU-wide rules for the civil use of drones agreed by the European Parliament and Council negotiators. Under the terms of the informal agreement, which still needs to be confirmed by both the Parliament and national governments, the design and manufacture of drones will have to comply with EU basic requirements on safety, security and personal data
