European Union regulators have given the green light to the proposed acquisition of French operator Covage by fibre venture SFR FTTH, owned by Altice Europe and a group of investment firms. First announced in November 2019, the approval of the deal was delayed by regulatory concerns over reduced competition in the B2B market segment of FTTO-based access services. Confirming recent press reports, SFR FTTH made commitments on a number of divestments to the EU's Directorate-General for Competition, to overcome serious objections linked to the impact of the deal on alternative retail operators.
