EU close to approving Telefonica, E-Plus deal - report

Monday 9 June 2014 | 10:13 CET | News
EU officials are close to approving the acquisition of German mobile network E-Plus by rival Telefonica, reports the Wall Street Journal citing three people familiar with the matter. EU anti-trust officials are understood to be happy with proposals put forward by Telefonica to address competition concerns. These conditions include releasing up to 30 percent of the combined group's spectrum to MVNOs. The sources said that at least one of these MVNOs would be required to sign up for an agreement to approve the deal.
