EU court confirms legality of German broadcast licence fees

Germany's system for collecting mandatory licence fees to finance its public service broadcasters, the GEZ, is in accordance with EU law, ruled the Court of Justice of the European Union. German public broadcasters can exercise the power, as exceptions to the general law, to collect unpaid debts, the Court added.
