EU digital content rules must protect consumer data - EDPS

The European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) has announced that, in his opinion, the European Commission's proposal for a directive on certain aspects concerning contracts for the supply of digital content opens up an opportunity for stronger consumer and data protection. The contracts will serve to enhance the protection of consumers who are required to disclose data as a condition for the supply of digital goods, said the EU's top privacy official Giovanni Buttarelli in his opinion on the proposal.
