EU digital tax proposal faces opposition from several states

EU member states are backing away from a European Commission proposal to impose a new revenue tax on digital service providers such as Google and Facebook. The first meeting of EU finance ministers to discuss the proposal showed that several member states would prefer seeking a solution through the OECD, which has led previous efforts to tax multinationals more effectively.
