Europe: Heads of govt of the European Union (EU) have approved a GBP100 bil, ten-year plan for construction of a European information highway. The project forms part of the White Paper on growth an employment and aims to involve private and public funds in construction of a European equivalent to the planned information highway in the US. To start the programme, investment of Ecu67 bil will be required between 1994 and 1999.
