EU may use competition law to spur cross-border selling

Some EU-based online retailers are contractually prevented by suppliers from selling to customers in other member states, according to a survey ordered by the European Commission. It warned that such agreements may be in breach of EU antitrust rules concerning the Single Market. The Commission ordered the report amid concern that growth in cross-border online trade is lagging behind the surge in internet sales seen within many member states.
