EU members meet in Amsterdam to discuss telecom reform

Representatives of the European Commission and all the EU member states met in Amsterdam 20 April to discuss the latest plans for reforming telecom regulations. The Netherlands chaired the talks, as rotating president of the EU in the first half of 2016. The meeting covered three topics on which the Commission hopes to introduce legislation later this year, as part of the Digital Single Market project. These are access regulation for fixed networks, spectrum policy and OTT services. The Dutch government is notably lobbying for increased regulatory tools to address oligopolies, in countries
