EU operators warn of arbitrage risk on new roaming rates

The European Commission has opened the door to reworking part of it plans to abolish roaming charges in the EU. The move follows a realisation within Brussels that part of the draft proposals dealing with wholesale costs could undermine the profitability of mobile operators in their own markets, the Financial Times reports. On 22 July, CEOs of some of Europe's biggest operators will meet Neelie Kroes, digital commissioner for the EU, to discuss the implications of the draft package.
