EU parliament confirms schedule for 700 MHz band release

The European Parliament has approved plans to open up the UHF band (470-790 MHz), including the 700 MHz band at EU level, for mobile services by mid-2020. This follows a political agreement reached in December 2016 with the EU member states, based on a proposal from the European Commission. The deal is expected to open the way for the use of the 700 MHz band for LTE services, while giving the broadcast sector time to transition to other frequencies.
