EU privacy watchdogs invite search engines to meeting

Thursday 17 July 2014 | 16:17 CET | News
The Article 29 Working Party and the EU's 28 national telecom regulators have invited Google and other search engines to a meeting during the week of 21 July to discuss the EU's so-called 'right to be forgotten' rule, allowing individuals to request the removal of information about them from search results, officials told the Wall Street Journal. Microsoft, which owns the Bing search engine, has confirmed that it will attend the meeting. Google and Yahoo said they planned to cooperate with data privacy officials, but would not comment on any meeting.
