EU sees progress with industry code to take-down online hate speech

Monday 4 February 2019 | 15:57 CET | News
Internet companies are making good progress on taking down hate speech faster online, according to the European Commission. The fourth evaluation on implementation of the EU Code of Conduct agreed with the industry in 2016 shows that 89 percent of flagged content is assessed within 24 hours and 72 percent of the content deemed to be illegal hate speech is removed. That compares to 40 percent and 28 percent respectively when the code was first launched.
