EU telecom industry groups oppose net neutrality legislation

Europe's major telecom lobby groups have come out against the European Commission's proposed net neutrality legislation. The GSMA, ETNO, ECTA and Cable Europe released a joint statement outlining their position ahead of the European Parliament's vote on the legislation 03 April. The lobby groups said the legislation would distort competition, create legal uncertainty, reduce the quality of internet services and reduce consumer choice. The statement said that the groups support the 'Open Internet', but the current proposals would "stifle innovation and block growth". They have accused the EC
