EU to order Amazon to pay 'hundreds of millions of euros' in back taxes - report

Wednesday 4 October 2017 | 10:22 CET | News
The European Union's antitrust regulator is preparing to order Luxembourg to recover several hundreds of millions of euros in unpaid taxes from Amazon, according to unnamed sources cited by the Wall Street Journal. The decision would follow a three-year probe into tax arrangements between the US online retailer and Luxembourg, with the European Commission having already ruled that the 2003 sweetheart deal "constituted state aid". The move would come after the EC ordered Apple to repay EUR 13 billion in Irish back taxes last year.
