European agencies shared wiretapping knowhow - report

European intelligence services in Germany, France, Spain and Sweden have developed mass internet and phone traffic surveillance methods in partnership with the UK eavesdropping agency GCHQ in the last five years, writes the Guardian. Most monitoring is done through direct taps onto fibre cables and through the development of covert relationships with telecom operators, according to documents leaked by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden to the paper.
