
Spanish regional cable operator Euskaltel has Euskaltel has paid off its remaining EUR 125 million debt with Orange. The Basque telecom operator has received a bridge loan from Kutxabank to finance the operation, Cinco Dias reports. Back in April, a court in Spain's Basque region (Tribunal Superior de Justicia del Pais Vasco – TSJPV) validated the decision of a Paris court demanding regional cable operator Euskaltel pay mobile operator Orange EUR 222 million in damages over the pair's mobile partnership termination. Euskaltel broke the partnership with Orange in November 2006, with both operators claiming the right to existing customers.
Euskaltel reported 2011 revenues of EUR 333 million, with net income of EUR 38.4 million, up by 17.4 percent year-on-year.
