Facebook claims one billion active users worldwide
Facebook has announced that one billion people are actively using the site each month worldwide. Since launch, the site has registered 140.3 billion friend connections and 219 billion photos uploaded. The total number of location-based tagged posts, including check-ins, has reached 17 billion since the function launched in August 2010. In addition, 62.6 million songs have been played 22 billion times. Facebook also claims to have 600 million mobile users worldwide.

Facebook Q3 revenues boosted by expansion in mobile

Facebook reported third-quarter revenue up 32 percent from a year earlier to USD 1.26 billion and highlighted a stronger expansion in its mobile users. Ads made up 86 percent of total revenue and grew 36 percent to USD 1.09 billion, of which 14 percent came from mobile platforms. Payments and other fees contributed USD 176 million in revenue, up 13 percent from a year ago. Facebook has 14 million active users in Italy per day

Facebook generated EUR 2.5 billion from January 2011 to January 2012 in Italy, while on a European level it achieved EUR 15.3 billion. The figures were presented by Luca Colombo, country manager of Facebook Italia, on the occasion of a telecommunications convention organised by Between. In Italy, 14 million users connect to Facebook daily and 22 million each month conduct at least one activity, of which 10 million do so via smartphone or mobile device, said Colombo.
