Facebook creates CMO position, hires Google's Briggs

Facebook has appointed Gary Briggs to be its first-ever CMO. Briggs ran consumer marketing at Google and at Motorola. In his new position at Facebook, Briggs will lead branding and marketing efforts for all Facebook constituencies of users, developers, marketers and potential consumers of new products like Facebook Home, AdAge reports. He will also oversee the Facebook teams responsible for product marketing, platform marketing and events, communication design, brand marketing and content strategy.
