Facebook creates Independent Oversight Board, with 3-party governance structure

Facebook has announced the formation of its Independent Oversight Board, following a public consultation and discussions with the US Federal Trade Commission, which imposed a USD 5 billion fine on the company earlier this summer for violating the privacy of its users. Facebook has, with Google, come under fire again from US lawmakers, for the potential violation of antitrust laws.
