Facebook Express Wi-Fi data privacy raises concerns in Kenya

Facebook, which is facing widespread international protest over its data mining and consumer data protection methods, may have been collecting data beyond its users through the Wi-Fi Express programme that launched in 2017 in Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria, India and Indonesia, according to Business Daily. It raised concerns about firmware inserted into the hotspots. The newspaper said that it "has learned" that Facebook may be mining deeper into consumer data in the developing world, where laws are weak or non-existent and regulators lack the knowledge and equipment to monitor its activities.
