Facebook faces criminal investigation for sharing data with tech companies

Thursday 14 March 2019 | 08:35 CET | News
US federal prosecutors are conducting a criminal investigation into deals Facebook struck with large technology companies to share data on users of the social network, the New York Times reports. A grand jury in New York has subpoenaed records from at least two prominent makers of smartphones and other devices, two people familiar with the matter told the paper. Both companies had entered into partnerships with Facebook, gaining broad access to the personal information of hundreds of millions of its users.
