Facebook, Google changing ad policies to halt fake news

Facebook and Google have separately announced updates to their advertising policies with a view to restricting the spread of fake news on the internet following the shock 2016 US presidential election result. The companies have responded to accusations that they allowed the publication of fake or hoax news stories that may have pushed the electorate to vote for Donald Trump. "We do not integrate or display ads in apps or sites containing content that is illegal, misleading or deceptive, which includes fake news," said Facebook in a statement. Google also said it would take steps to restrict
