Facebook, Instagram to stop news sharing in Australia if media bargaining draft code becomes law

Facebook has announced plans to stop allowing publishers and people in Australia from sharing local and international news on Facebook and Instagram, if a recently announced draft code becomes law. Back in May, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) launched consultations on a new draft mandatory code that will "address bargaining power imbalances between Australia's news media businesses and Google and Facebook".
