Facebook limits Messenger forwarding, restricts US political ads

Thursday 3 September 2020 | 15:29 CET | News
Facebook has announced two initiatives designed to slow the spread of viral misinformation and harmful content. After setting limits on forwarded messages in Whatsapp, the company has now imposed similar restrictions on its Messenger chat platform, limiting forwarded messages to five people or groups at a time. "We are introducing a forwarding limit on Messenger to help curb the efforts of those looking to cause chaos, sow uncertainty or inadvertently undermine accurate information," said Facebook director of product management for Messenger privacy and safety, Jay Sullivan.
