Facebook Messenger to end P2P money transfer service in France and UK

Tuesday 16 April 2019 | 16:36 CET | News
Facebook issued a short statement on the forthcoming closure of its peer-to-peer money transfer service for Messenger users in the UK and France, which was introduced in the two countries at the end of 2017. From 15 June, users will no longer be able to make payments to their contacts via Messenger. Other transactions through Facebook will still be possible, such as making donations to charitable organisations. A spokesperson said that the company made the decision to focus "on experiences that people find most useful."
