Facebook ordered to permit pseudonyms in Germany

The Hamburg representative for data protection and freedom, Johannes Caspar, issued an order against Facebook based on an infringement of the Telemedia Act and the Act on Identity Cards, and ordered the company to permit the anonymous use of its services. Therefore, an account that was previously blocked due to its anonymous use must be unblocked. Facebook has also been ordered to refrain from the unilateral change of the account to the user's real name. The request for the presentation of official photo ID to prove identity is also inadmissible. The order was issued after a user complained
