Facebook shared user and friend data with 60 device makers

Facebook reached data-sharing partnerships with at least 60 device makers – including Apple, Samsung, Amazon, BlackBerry and Microsoft – many of which date back to the time before Facebook apps became available on smartphones and many of which are still active, reports the New York Times. Under the terms of the agreements relating to device-integrated APIs, the companies were given access to "vast amounts" of Facebook users' personal information, including the data of users' friends, said the report, adding that some device makers could retrieve data such as relationship status, religion,
