Facebook supports UK NGOs to fight hate speech

Friday 23 June 2017 | 08:42 CET | News
Facebook is launching its Online Civil Courage Initiative in the UK to channel support to NGOs that fight hate speech. Initial partners include Imams Online and the Jo Cox Foundation, the BBC reports. Similar initiatives to counter hate speech were launched in Germany in January 2016 and in France in March 2017. Facebook will offer training, marketing support and best practice advice to nongovernmental organizations on tackling hate speech, as well financial support for research into online and offline patterns of extremism.
