Facebook suspends Nearby location sharing feature in Italy

Facebook has suspended its 'Nearby Places' location-sharing feature in Italy after a court ruled that it had breached competition and copyright laws by effectively copying an app created by a local developer. According to a copy of the court's ruling seen by Reuters, Facebook's Nearby feature was found to be "extremely similar" in its functions and general set-up to the Faround app of Italian software developer Business Competence. The local startup filed a lawsuit against Facebook in 2013, with a Milan court finally issuing its decision on 01 August 2016. The complaint alleged that Facebook
