Facebook testing new Wi-Fi hotspot service

Friday 2 November 2012 | 14:53 CET | News
Facebook is testing a new Wi-Fi hotspot service for local businesses in the US that lets users surf the net for free if they check-in with Facebook, according to CNET. Businesses will provide internet service in exchange for a Facebook router that will direct customers to the business Facebook page after they check in. Users, or people without Facebook accounts, who don't want to check-in on Facebook will still be able to access Wi-Fi by entering a password provided by the business. Facebook confirmed with CNET that it has already rolled out the small test to a few local businesses.
