Facebook tightens targeted advertising rules

Facebook has announced the imminent introduction of new controls to better inform users targeted advertising. Starting 02 July, the company will for the first time will require advertisers to tell its users if a data broker firm supplied information that led to them being targeted with an ad. In the drop-down menu of each ad, the "Why am I seeing this?" section will show people the source of the information (advertiser or partner) and if the advertiser was able to reach them through their phone number or email address, said Facebook in a blog post.
