Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Periscope, TikTok fined by Turkey for breaching new social-media law

Turkish authorities fined Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Periscope and TikTok for failing to comply with a new law that allows local authorities to execute court orders to take down social-media content or store Turkish users' social-media data in the country, according to Turkey's deputy minister of transportation and infrastructure, Omer Fatih Sayan. The new law was attacked by civil-rights activists who deemed it as as an attempt to censor opposition, the Wall-Street Journal reports.
