Facebook wins appeal against Belgian privacy ruling

Belgium's privacy regulator has lost its case against Facebook over alleged violations of data protection law by the social network, news agency Belga reports. The Privacy Commission won an injunction last November against Facebook, preventing it from using the 'datr' cookie, which collects information on users and non-users of Facebook. The social network filed an appeal, and the court in Brussels decided it was not competent to rule on the case involving Facebook Ireland, the company's headquarters in Europe.
