Fastweb ordered to stop "5G Ready" ads

Monday 20 February 2017 | 09:40 CET | News
Italy's self-regulatory advertising watchdog IAP has ordered Fastweb to cease claiming in its street, TV and online ads that its network is "5G Ready". The IAP upheld complaints lodged by Vodafone Italia and TIM against the claim, which it says breaches article 2 of the self-regulatory advertising code. However, Fastweb told tech website Cor.com that the expression "5G Ready" was correctly used in relation to the infrastructure it's in the process of rolling out, not with regard to the availability of a 5th generation mobile service.
