Fastweb to use rail tracks to bring fibre to Lanciano

Italian operator Fastweb has signed an agreement with the rail operator in the central Italian region of Abruzzo to use existing infrastructure to bring fibre-optic connectivity to the historic town of Lanciano. As part of the deal with rail operator TUA and the Abruzzo region, the operator will roll out 11 km of fibre-optic cable along the rail tracks between the stations of San Vito Chietino and Lanciano, thus avoiding costly excavation work. The agreement also includes the deployment of fibre-optic cable along the Fossacesia-Torino di Sangro line, leading to the Val di Sangro industrial
